Either I finally figured out how to do it, got lucky, or the D300s is just so darn good, but today I finally captured some halfway decent dragonflys in flight.
I couldn't tell you how many empty or out of focus shots of flying dragonflys I've taken over the years.

Sorry Rig, I don't run. Even when I was young and in really good shape I hated running, I sure don't do it now - hehe.
Fortunately I didn't have to run to get these. This guy was flying a somewhat regular pattern, I just had to be patient and wait for him to fly to me.

I've noticed that about dragonflies. I used to find a spot they were landing and they kept coming back and back.
