My buddies D70 hasgone a little squirrelly...after taking a few pictures, turn off the camera. When turned back on, the previous images have been erased. Any ideas?

Thanks, FM12

Wow being a fellow Nikon user I have to admit I have no idea what is going on. Is is possible that maybe the media card has gone bad? I have yet to have this happen to me but it seems like a reasonable possibility. Also the test for this would be easy. Just try a new or different card. If you have the same problem than the camera is at fault, if it works than you have a bad card.

Had another idea last night. Does the card have a lock switch on it? If so is it in the locked mode?

My first thought was a bad compact flash card as well, just like a hard drive they go bad over time. First thing I would try is using another CF card.

Are the pictures being written to the card at all? Has he taken a few shots then taken the card out of the camera and tried downloading them to the computer?
